Think Like A Business

From now on, you are no longer a human, you are a business. Your life is a business. So you need to start thinking and acting like a business.

Characteristics of a business

– Businesses increase revenue

– Businesses purchase assets, sometimes using debt to increase their revenue not their liabilities

– Businesses have multiple people working to increase their value

– Businesses work to reduce their tax burden

– Businesses have a solid brand

– Businesses have plan

There are a lot of lessons to unpack here.

Businesses increase revenue.

If you are healthy and can work you try and continuously increase your income year over year. That may mean finding another job or another company or starting a side hustle, but I believe in you. There are so many opportunities out there for individuals to make more money.

You may need to increase your skills. You may need to find another company or start your own company. But while you have the ability to work and earn money you should also be trying to increase the amount that you make year after year. Also, you do not have to do it alone find a mentor or coach. Find a tribe that can build you up. There are plenty of people out there that would love to help you level up and reach your potential.

Businesses are asset owners.

Business collect assets not liabilities. Their mission is to increase their quarterly revenue not their quarterly expenses. Now a business may choose to invest in equipment or employees to grow that revenue, those are liabilities, but there should be a payoff once they spend that money. Stop buying crap that has no value. Fancy clothes, car or lifestyle. It is not making you any happier and taking away capital you need to grow your empire.

Spend good money on experiences and making memories, not junk.

Spend money on things that are going to increase in value:

– Real estate

– Stocks – growth or dividend

– Education or career development

– Business startup costs

Businesses have multiple people working to increase their value.

You are not an island. Chances are you have a family that wants you to succeed. You probably have a partner or will have a partner in the future. Tell them about your plans to be successful. Get their buy in.

Find your tribe.

It took me a long time to find people that I really enjoyed spending time with. That shared my interests. You do not need to please everyone. You do not have to be friends with everyone. If someone is not working for you, let them go. Find that people that are going to boost you up.

You may need to hire people.

A coach, maid, tutor, mentor. Businesses hire a lot of people to grow bigger. There is nothing wrong with you finding people to do the same thing for you. Anything that makes your life easier and allows you to accomplish your goals is worth paying money for.

Businesses work to reduce their tax burden

Fees and taxes will kill your growth. Reduce these as much as possible. You are reducing this burden so that you have more money to give to charity one day. There are future generations that need your funds and giving them away will help those people.

Businesses have a solid brand

Your reputation is valuable. Don’t misunderstand me on this one. I am not telling you to go be Disney. You are human and should not be a Disney character or be ‘family-friendly’. There are too many people out there pretending to be someone they are not.

You should be honest.

Be up front with the people around you. Be brutally honest about who you are and what you want. Other people will respect you for it. And other people will take notice. If you are being fake people will not want to be around you.

Businesses have plan

This is why you are here. The best businesses have a plan to be successful and so will you. Giant fortunes do not just happen. They take time and carefully planning. Your plan is not going to be written in concrete. It will be fluid.

But need to be clear about where you are going. What your money is doing. And you need to be working toward that goal.

Return to this when you get distracted

Businesses are not emotional. They are cold and black and white. So is your money.

When you do get emotional and forget your way, it happens to me more often that I want to admit it, return to this and remember that you are a business with a mission. That you are on a path to give away millions of dollars one day and that other people are not going to get in your way.
